Chiropractic is a 105 year old profession. From its discovery by
one practitioner in 1895 to over 55,000 practitioners in 2000, it
has become the largest drugless, holistic health care
profession in the world.
Chiropractic is a modern healing art which uses the body's inborn
self healing ability to battle disease. Our goal is to help the
body heal itself. So how does a chiropractor help bring out the
body's inner healing abilities without the use of drugs or surgery?
The most severe form of interference known to a healthy body is
a condition known as a vertebral subluxation. It's a condition that
puts pressure on nerves and related structures causing imbalances
in the body, generates fatigue, lowers the resistance to disease,
and ultimately weakens the body's natural healing abilities.
Vertebral subluxations are misalignments of the vertebrae that
make up the spinal column. These misalignments create imbalances
and put pressure on the nervous system, decreasing
the body's inborn healing ability. The condition does not always
cause pain and can damage our body to the point where we watch our
health slowly fade away without knowing the cause.
There are many causes of vertebral subluxations. A difficult labor
can cause not only the new mom but also the newborn infant to receive
its first subluxation. Childhood and adult falls and injuries, emotional
stress and chemical stress weakens our spine throughout our lives.
Automobile accidents, sports injuries, poor posture, and doing minor
things the wrong way day after day (for example, picking up things
without bending the knees) are all ways to cause vertebral subluxations.
A Doctor of Chiropractic, using a variety of techniques, will analyze
the body for vertebral subluxations and correct any that are found.
A chiropractor will also educate the patient about the importance
of proper exercise, nutrition, sleep, posture, and positive mental
attitude. Don't wait for your good health to fade away. Have your
spine checked by a Doctor of Chiropractic before problems cause
damage or pain.

in the cause and prevention of disease. -Thomas Edison
